Six United Physicians Member Practices Recognized for Providing Exceptional Patient Care
Thursday, 14 August 2014 12:18

Bingham Farms, MI—August 14, 2014—United Physicians members are setting a level of health care excellence in Michigan. Six member practices recently received Priority Health’s 2014 Quality Award. The awards, established by Priority Health in 2003, recognize physicians for providing exceptional patient care, and making health care more accessible and affordable in our communities.

The United Physician practices that were recognized were:

·       Associates of Family Medicine in Rochester Hills

·       Child Health Associates in Troy, Farmington and West Bloomfield

·       Lifetime Medical Associates in Rochester Hills

·       Orchard Pediatrics in West Bloomfield

·       Pediatric Healthcare in Sterling Heights

·       Troy Internal Medicine, a Division of Arcturus Healthcare, PLC, in Troy

“I live more than 20 miles from Orchard Pediatrics but make the drive because of the doctors and medical staff. They’re genuinely enthusiastic to see my children and how they’re growing,” said Lesley H, mom to two Orchard Pediatrics’ patients.  “When my son was one, he needed a specialist. I wasn’t comfortable with the course of treatment she suggested, so I turned to Orchard Pediatrics for input. Today, my son is healthy, happy and thriving. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.”

Priority Health selects award winners by analyzing the highest performing practices within its network of 18,000 physicians. The individual physicians and groups selected are the most effective at ensuring patients receive preventive care and manage their chronic conditions, and have high satisfaction with their care. Priority Health rewards these practices through its PCP Incentive Program and honors the top performers through the annual Quality Awards.

United Physicians and Altarum Institute Launch Patient Engagement Tool
Wednesday, 18 September 2013 00:00

ANN ARBOR, Mich.— There is a growing body of evidence to illustrate that patients who are more actively involved in their health care experience have better health outcomes and incur lower costs, according to a recent issue of Health Affairs.

Health information technology can improve the quality of the health care experience and strengthen the interaction between patients and health care providers.

Altarum has a number of specific initiatives focused on consumer engagement and activation. United Physicians partnered with Altarum on one particular project titled, “Reducing Inappropriate High-tech Imaging” that provides physicians with recommendations for their patients on using high-tech imaging such as MRIs and CT-Scans.

“We received a strong message from physicians about the challenges in responding to patient requests for high-tech imaging. And from that, we developed a clinical decision support tool and education materials that physicians can provide to support shared decision making with their patients,” said Bobbi Coluni, deputy director of Altarum’s Information and Technology Strategies group.

These patient education materials are available through a website that was launched on Consumer Health IT Day, Sept. 16, 2013.

About ImageSmart

ImageSmart is a clinical decision support (CDS) web application. CDS puts scientific evidence at your doctor’s fingertips to help him or her make more informed decisions. Scientific research is published at breakneck speed — more than one million new studies are published each year. Computer-based CDS tools can integrate the latest scientific research and combine it with your health information, such as medications, drug allergies, symptoms, and chronic conditions, to help you receive care that is safer, higher in quality, and lower in cost. CDS tools take many forms — including alerts, reminders, and guidelines — to help doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other health care providers see the right evidence for your care at the right time.
